Today was a beautiful sunny blue sky day and it is sooo nice. Not very warm, but still pretty. The fields are beginning to turn yellowish and the air feels like fall. As I ran down the street this morning I was reminded of the way every september of my life has felt. I've always been starting school and a new field hockey season, and the smell of the sunny cold air made me think of it so much that I wished I was going to university all over again. Although, technically, I do get to go back to school, just in another fashion.
Yesterday was a really great sunday. Mike and I went to church together (check that one off my list) and it was awesome. I really love the church we found--it has great music and a lot of people. We've met many new faces already. After church, we were invited for lunch at the home of a young couple who have a two month old daughter. They treated us to elk steaks and it was delicious. They have a lot in common with us, including that they like to play boardgames, which led to a very close match of settlers. Lindsay is a dental hygienist and her husband is actually a teacher as well. We had many similar interests, and it actually was kind of strange because her husband is also a writer and just recently finished a manuscript for a fantasy novel, which is what I want to write. So, we had a lot to talk about and it was really nice to meet some new people. Hopefully they might be able to come over for a birthday dinner for me on friday.
Well, Mike is at work and off for the next four days, so we are heading to Grand Prairie for my birthday present, to go for dinner and a movie. And then it's back to school!

So glad you had a good day, my dear, and so nice to hear that you've met some friends! I'd say that's more than coincidence, that, meeting friends through church who just HAPPEN to (one half of them, anyway) teach and write. Hurrah!
On a sad note, the church that I've been going to has decided to disband because of (among other factors) poor attendance. It's been going on for two years and they usually only get forty or fifty people at a service. And the head pastor has accepted a job in Calgary, so next week is the last service. Sigh.
Oh well. Who am I to complain, when I'm heading off soon anyway? ;) Maybe I'll find a cute Scottish writer at a church in St. Andrews ...
Love, Me xo
Wow,
They sound like a great set of friends to have - Congrats! I'm a little sad right now because our nextdoor neighbors (who played board games and shared our interests) have just (like 30 min ago) moved out. They're moving to New Mexico. That's the way it is being in the university system, I guess, continuing schooling means lots of new places and new people, it also means lots of leaving. Oh, I miss them.
I also miss you two! I guess you're the "original" couple that we try and match new friends to wherever we go :)
SOOO... I have a gift sitting here ready for you - are you going to come pick it up, or will you give me your address so that I can send it?
Cheers,
Jenn
oops...I was pretty sure I sent you the group email with my address on it. Sorry about that:
